Consultation from Lived Experience

I believe professional consultation should be rooted in lived experience.

Working in healthcare can be stressful, overwhelming, and (let’s face it) traumatic.

Especially for those who exist at multiple axes of oppression.

Mental healthcare cannot be separated from cultural humility and social justice. It is imperative to privilege the voices of the most impacted.

Our current systems make it challenging to avoid (re)perpetuating harm.

I am passionate about supporting helping professionals in their capacity to provide care to marginalized communities.

Professional and Lived Experience

Gender and Sexuality

I am queer. I have lived experience with bisexuality, the asexual spectrum, and being trans non-binary.

I have been involved with the LGBTQIA+ community since 2005. I can unpack differences between LGBT and Queer spaces.

My Master’s thesis was informed by feminist queer theory. I can assist those wanting to understand queerness as both an identity and a political framework or worldview.

I am non-monogamous. I also have experience with the BDSM/kink community. I have over a decade of experience in community with individuals whose relationship styles challenge cisheteropatriarchal assumptions.

Disability and Neurodivergence

I am neurodivergent (ADHD / Autistic / 2e). I can speak to the struggles of late diagnosis for high masking afab individuals. I am actively involved in autistic and ADHD communities.

I was identified as Gifted in elementary school. I can explore the challenges of 2e experiences. Including how lack of developmental support for neurodivergent traits impacts mental health in adulthood.

I can speak to the intersectionality of LGBTQIA+ and Disability experiences.

I operate from the social model of disability, the Neurodiversity paradigm, and Disability Justice.

Other Areas of Expertise

I have lived experience with complex trauma, which I see as a form of disability.

I have both lived and professional experience with domestic violence and suicidality.

I was raised in conservative Evangelical Christianity. I can offer insight into spiritual trauma, as well as related LGBTQIA+ intersectionality.

I grew up in Appalachia and I currently live in Texas. I can speak to the challenges of being queer in the South. And unpack nuances of the perspective of growing up in a rural area.
